Brand new or Pre-loved

Some recent posts about Ebay dolls have got me wondering...

Which type of doll do you enjoy the most? I know we love them all, but which do YOU have the most fun with?

Nothing else on earth is like owning a brand new doll. She is only yours, and has never belonged to anyone else. She still has that new doll smell, she is often perfect in every way.

But then, there is the old outgrown doll from ebay or a thrift store.Often she has a haircut, stray marks of ink on her.She has long been forgotten by her original playmate.She may take hours of work and quite a few dollars spent to even be presentable ever again.

Which is more fun? I love a new doll just as well as the next girl, but I am always afraid I will mess them up. Also, there is a bonding process that takes place with a fixer upper that I just love! All in all, I think I have the most fun with the preloved dolls.

I personally have never bought a used doll. The prices on ebay for used are so high, I really might as well get used. (Usually they are only 20 or 30 dollars off- not enough for me!)

Well, I can certainly see your point there. But once in a while, there will be a really good deal.

I certainly have a soft spot for ebay dolls. Most of my collection is pre-owned. there is just something about a forgotten toy that I have rescued.

On the other hand, I got a few brand new dolls that I love just as much. I received Agt #1 yesterday, and I am totally smitten by her. I think she has captured my heart more than #26 has. Perhaps it is because she is not as popular. I don't know, but right now, I am in amore!!

It depends. For certain brands of dolls, like AG, I'd ratehr have new, simply because used is so expensive on Ebay. But if I find a doll in the secondhand stores, that's different.

Id say New....unless I can inherit them from my friends or cousins for free...but somehow I dont get the same feeling of belonging with them. As someone said..there is something to be said for a doll that is yours and all yours and always has been all yours. I do like the feeling of rescuing dolls as well tho. Giving them a loving home!

I don't really know. I like both. New dolls have that "new doll smell" and are all yours, but adopting a pre-loved doll has its meaning, too. I haven't gotten a new AG since Marisol last March, but I've adopted three eBay AGs since then. I just can't choose who I like more. I like them all, what else can I say!

Hmmm my very first NEW doll is on the way. Sam was pre-loved and I loved her right away (she was in great shape though).

I guess it depends on the doll. I agree with what has been posted - if the doll needs too much work it would have been better to go new.

I am very excited to meet Sarady (AGOT #1) should be here in about 3 weeks (shipping to Canada takes forever)!!!

Hmmm, the dolls I have so far, are Ebay-dolls - one new and Molly at least looks new. Marisol is also MIB.
I'd love the idea to get a PM-doll, though!
